GENERAL SUMMARY

The Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for conducting evidence-based clinical reviews for formulary maintenance and service as a drug information resource for off label requests, corporate clinical trial review and any other internal and external questions related to drug information. This position will also assist in developing educational materials related to formulary decisions, support the HTA electronic communications strategies and participate in the HTA outcomes role on the newly formed Coventry Health Outcomes Research Taskforce (CoHORT). CoHORT will be responsible for working with pharmaceutical manufacturers on joint initiatives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILIES

- Develops clinical programs to support commercial and Exchanges formulary management.
- Supports the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee function.
- Collaborates with other medical personnel in developing treatment guidelines and demonstrates the impact of these guidelines.
- Monitors prescribing habits of participating physicians. Makes recommendations to physicians to improve medication regimens as appropriate.
- Maintains the prior authorization program and/or the rebate program consistent with contract, state and/or federal guidelines.
- Serves as a resource for drug information questions.
- Supports the drug rebate regulations and mandates by maintaining pharmaceutical reimbursement methodology for multisource products. Validates the clinical availability of multisource products for provider utilization.
- Develops and maintains newsletters for providers promoting rational prescribing habits as well as for members educating about appropriate drug use.
- Assists in outcomes research initiatives.
- Performs other duties as required.



Qualifications:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

- Current unrestricted state license required.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy required.
- Board certification and residency is preferred.
- Previous (1-3 years) clinical pharmacy experience required. Previous managed care experience is preferred.
- Strong pharmaceutical product and clinical pharmacy knowledge is required.
- Knowledge of clinical program components, formulary designs, and prescription benefit trends.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Professional communication skills both written and verbal. Able to conduct presentations effectively.
