Description:
GENERAL SUMMARY
Assists with the establishment of routine present value cost estimates of future contingent events regarding primarily the cost of delivering health care to a member population for areas served. This is an entry-level actuarial position.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with quantitative assessments of risk relating to market premium rate levels, new product development, provider contracts, and IBNR according to regulatory and professional guidelines.
- Applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to risk and trend analyses.
- Analyzes, summarizes, and reconciles standard statistical data.
- Conducts special actuarial studies under direct guidance. Receives detailed instructions on all work.
- Ensures the accuracy of work assigned through the development and use of reconciliation techniques.
- Assists in the testing of computer applications of new rating methods.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
-Previous experience in managed care finance or analyses preferred.
-Must be currently pursuing the designation of ASA in the Society of Actuaries. Completion of 0-2 exams preferred.
-Knowledgeable of general insurance principles.
-Knowledge of statistical and computer information systems.
-Previous health care contract and services rate administration experience desirable.
